Caetano Moreira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robin Sharma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karol Panasewicz in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. After 28 minutes Portugal's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Afşar Uçuk who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Afşar Uçuk almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Portugal's Wilson Amorim did a great save. Karol Panasewicz scored 2-0 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Robin Sharma as he didn't even see the shot coming. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lionel-Andrés Messi in the 75th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felipinho Amorim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Robin Sharma made a huge save.
