With an all-out effort, Duri come il marmo's Arnout Reekers threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberigo Addari, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 12 minutes into the match, Duri come il marmo's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Emiliano Polito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emiliano Polito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on Netherlands's corner Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Emiliano Polito quite easily take care of the ball. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Emilio Rizzo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Cosimo Finocchio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Arnout Reekers. That made the score 1-0 in the 38 minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Cosimo Finocchio came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Emiliano Polito was left in no man's land by his defense there! After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Fabrizio Di Gaetano kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Rizzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Emiliano Polito made a huge save. 64 minutes had been played when some careless play by Duri come il marmo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. A very nice done corner allowed David Eikelkamp to score against Emiliano Polito in Duri come il marmo's goal. 1-2 after 64 minutes. 69 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Alberigo Addari came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Gustaaf Groeneveldt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Emiliano Polito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Duri come il marmo's Flavio Lattanzio was substituted for Mary Cau. Thanks to some nice moves Gustaaf Groeneveldt could shoot a difficult shot in the 80th minute, which Emiliano Polito however easily saved by the left post. In the 84th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Emiliano Polito. The goal made the score 1-4. 88 minutes into the match, Duri come il marmo's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Emiliano Polito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
