Eugênio Tróia who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Ilija Skugor when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Croatia's Ilija Skugor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Pedro da Mata in the 34th minute of play. Ilija Skugor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flávio Dionísio in the 48th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guga Souto to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrik Terzic to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Croatia defense, Zé Pedro da Mata kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilija Skugor. There was no doubt that Goiás Esporte Clube were the better team. Goiás Esporte Clube's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
