If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wellington Montenegro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Albin Holweck went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 41st minute, Albin Holweck left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Germany fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Catarinense in the 73rd minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 76 minutes, Luís Fernando Pena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joinville Esporte Clube and the Germany players grew even worse after the yellow card. Célio Torres made in the 83rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Gugu Ramos.
