Newell´s's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Carlos Damião in the 10th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Damião in the 14th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute of the match Merced AFC got a corner. Newell´s's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. With a little luck, Merced AFC's Salvador Lazcano got control of the ball when Mattias Wallengren tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Mattias Wallengren fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newell´s's protests and gave Mattias Wallengren a yellow card for diving instead. Mattias Wallengren hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltasar Alfonso in the 24th minute of the match. Merced AFC:s Salvador Lazcano showed great skill when he stopped Indiana Turban:s penalty. Salvador Lazcano was a little too slow when Indiana Turban got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 49th minute. The score was now 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tadeo Jakobe was the one to do the kick off. Salvador Lazcano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Cordara in the 54th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mattias Wallengren in the 61st minute of play forced Merced AFC's goalkeeper Salvador Lazcano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Indiana Turban's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Salvador Lazcano was relentless in the 68th minute of the game.
