In the 13th minute of the game Tito Montaño made a throw-in which Tonete Abaurre played forward. 15 minutes into the match, Bolivia's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Cassaretto came free, but Marcelo Barovero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16thth minute of the game Enrique Cassaretto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bolivia's Marcelo Barovero was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Paul Ramon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Peru's Paul Ramon got control of the ball when Juan Funes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelo Barovero came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Enrique Cassaretto. But to his dismay, Enrique Cassaretto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Marino Pacheco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paul Ramon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Rodrigues in the 36th minute of the match. Paul Ramon made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Juan Funes sent off a good shot on target. Enrique Cassaretto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelo Barovero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alexandre Rodrigues stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marcelo Barovero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Cassaretto in the 51st minute of play. James Bom hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Bolivia's Marcelo Barovero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Bolivia from getting a goal against them. Leonardo Colmenares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcelo Barovero came out and tried to block the shot, but Leonardo Colmenares slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 59th minute. 64 minutes into the match, Peru's Enrique Cassaretto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Barovero narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 69th minute Tonete Abaurre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Ramon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrique Cassaretto might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcelo Barovero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique Cassaretto ran back to his position shaking his head. Bolivia's Marcelo Barovero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Bolivia from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Helmut Gutiérrez hit a great ball. Peru's Herensuge Colomes was substituted for Martino Armona. Peru made a substitution. Humberto Requena replaced Blasi Asas. In the 92nd minute, James Bom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Pacheco didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
