An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 16th minute of play forced Parque Europa FC's goalkeeper Luis Täger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Reyes came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Täger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luis Täger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dario Casero ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Bartolomeu Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
