Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wim Wilmes in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ruben Sánchez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ruben Sánchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Magic is Back booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gust Ennemans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gust Ennemans made in the 21st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Gustaaf Groeneveldt however managed to control. 24 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ruben Sánchez. Magic is Back's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Wilmes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Magic is Back's Ruben Sánchez. Ruben Sánchez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Martin Palermo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Palermo. The Magic is Back players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martin Palermo made a kick off. Mathijn Doctor made in the 54th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Gustaaf Groeneveldt immediately put the ball in play. Magic is Back's Ruben Sánchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 56th minute of play. After 58 minutes of play, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roberto Mouzo replaced Roland Schiavi. After a rather tough play, Magic is Back's Ovidio Laurentzi got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Ruben Sánchez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 66th minute of the match. The referee ignored Magic is Back's protests and gave Claudio Marangoni a yellow card for diving instead. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Magic is Back.
