The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Siricio Liotta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Napoleon Dziedelonis having to interfere. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saul Baumer, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Saul Lamberto. With an all-out effort, Zuberbühler FC's Flavio Vittori threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Saul Baumer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Napoleon Dziedelonis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sigfrido Auletta in the 20th minute of play. When Saul Lamberto came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Zuberbühler FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Saul Lamberto couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 40th minute of play forced Zuberbühler FC's goalkeeper Napoleon Dziedelonis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute Florentino Lastur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Venancio Calisto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zuberbühler FC's Iwan Sebzda was substituted for Florentino Lastur. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zaccheo Andolina to make the kick off. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Baumer in the 53rd minute of play. Mariano Berart hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Zuberbühler FC's Napoleon Dziedelonis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Zuberbühler FC from getting a goal against them. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Baumer in the 61st minute of play. The supporters of Italy booed when Zuberbühler FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saul Lamberto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Italy's Zaccheo Andolina slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Napoleon Dziedelonis. That made the score 0-1 after 74 minutes of play. Italy's Zaccheo Andolina got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Italy made a substitution. Adriano Curto replaced Zaccheo Andolina. A sloppy throw-in by Eugenio Gabon in the 94th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Italy's Siricio Liotta. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Baumer in the 95th minute of play. Italy's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
