Flavio Vittori came out of the goal in the 12th minute to try and stop a shot by La Pointe Courte's Roch Felenak. But to his dismay, Roch Felenak quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a rather tough play, Italy's Sostene Vitulli got a free kick in the 15th minute. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gianluca Prestin, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Gomberto Picozzi was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 24 minutes into the match. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, La Pointe Courte's goal looked a bit too open when Sigfrido Auletta came free, but Jolan Galindo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in La Pointe Courte's zone, Siricio Liotta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jolan Galindo came out of the goal and Siricio Liotta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

A sloppy throw-in by Deodato Magliozzi in the 53rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by La Pointe Courte's Antonis Mavrofidis. After 56 played minutes La Pointe Courte got a freekick which was hit by Gianluca Prestin. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 58th minute of play forced La Pointe Courte's goalkeeper Jolan Galindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gianluca Prestin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavio Vittori read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Diogo Queirós hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. La Pointe Courte made a substitution. Yves Leite replaced Roch Felenak. After 63 played minutes La Pointe Courte got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Queirós. Diogo Queirós's late challenge caught a Italy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diogo Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th minute, Diogo Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Porziano Marchitelli might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jolan Galindo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Porziano Marchitelli ran back to his position shaking his head. La Pointe Courte made a substitution. Pawel Harendarski replaced Josué Pagueguy. Italy's Siricio Liotta quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Diogo Queirós, made in the 73rd minute of the game. In the 75th minute, Porziano Marchitelli got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gianluca Prestin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute of the match, Deodato Magliozzi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jolan Galindo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 89 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Yves Leite came free, but Flavio Vittori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gianluca Prestin hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. Italy's Guiscardo Davide was substituted for Sigfrido Auletta. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cidro Flores during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Italy booed when La Pointe Courte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cidro Flores didn't get a good kick on the ball. The La Pointe Courte players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
