Simon Gerbault kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cãlin Damaschin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 40th minute of the match. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after CERRO PORTEÑO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Abel Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The CERRO PORTEÑO players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-2.

The supporters of Netherlands booed when CERRO PORTEÑO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Kensicki didn't get a good kick on the ball. 59 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gijsbert ter Kruimer got free with Cãlin Damaschin in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind CERRO PORTEÑO's goalkeeper Cãlin Damaschin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Cãlin Damaschin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 90th minute Netherlands were awarded a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer went to the cornerflag to take it. Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that CERRO PORTEÑO's Cãlin Damaschin managed to reach the ball for a save. Cãlin Damaschin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 95 minute of play.
