Yngve Fredriksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antal Valentin in the 11th minute of play. If Karl-Åke Termander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 17 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Katona Janos. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Djurgårdens IF's Tobias Pettersson got a free kick in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antal Valentin in the 23rd minute of play forced Djurgårdens IF's goalkeeper Yngve Fredriksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the game, Hungary's Antal Valentin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yngve Fredriksson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 32nd minute of the match Djurgårdens IF got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marcus Botvidsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Djurgårdens IF's Karl-Åke Termander got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yngve Fredriksson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hegedus Henrik in the 36th minute of the match. Djurgårdens IF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcus Botvidsson in the 40th minute. The corner led Djurgårdens IF's Marcus Botvidsson to fire away a dangerous shot which Fodor Daniel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Hungary booed when Djurgårdens IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobias Pettersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yngve Fredriksson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Balazs Lajos in the 44th minute of the match. Fodor Daniel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Åke Termander in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Djurgårdens IF's Karl-Åke Termander dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Karl-Åke Termander to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Antal Valentin could shoot a difficult shot in the 54th minute, which Yngve Fredriksson however easily saved by the left post. Hungary's Antal Valentin got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hieronim Posadzki in the 61st minute of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Antal Valentin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hungary's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antal Valentin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 68th minute, Bakos Endre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hegedus Henrik kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Antal Valentin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Yngve Fredriksson firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 90th minute, Djurgårdens IF's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Antal Valentin fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 95th minute, Boros Benedek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Hungary players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
