The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mehmet Ferit İsmet during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 09's Mehmet Ferit İsmet got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 34th minute, Kees Mooiweer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raul Leal got free with Arnout Reekers in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Raul Leal to strike the kick off in the second half. Gustaaf Groeneveldt took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Renato Candal. Renato Candal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Renato Candal threw himself towards the right post 56 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Renato Candal in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. David Eikelkamp was extremely unlucky when he, in the 66th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 67 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Renato Candal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes.
