The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antal Valentin made a kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Erasmo Arce was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sao Paulo Leste FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hungary the free kick. After having played for 51 minutes, Major Barna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hungary's supporters crossed their fingers, but Major Barna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sao Paulo Leste FC's Emerson Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Sao Paulo Leste FC from getting a goal against them. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Leão having to interfere. Fodor Daniel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celsinho Cerezo, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Balazs Lajos got a free kick in the 95th minute. Hungary were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
