In the 2nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Wesselbend's goalkeeper Jurgen Goris, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grégoire Caamaño in the 4th minute of play forced Rapid Wien's goalkeeper Alf Tempel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uwe Kitzbichler made in the 9th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Wesselbend's Jonáš Baroš. Alf Tempel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Grégoire Caamaño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Everardo Huguet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With his leg Jurgen Goris managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Rapid Wien's Robin Dommröse fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grégoire Caamaño in the 19th minute of play forced Rapid Wien's goalkeeper Alf Tempel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Anthonis in the 23rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rapid Wien's Uwe Kitzbichler got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 26 played minutes, Wesselbend's Ken Anthonis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alf Tempel came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wesselbend reached it. Alf Tempel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Everardo Huguet in the 41st minute of the match. After 44 minutes of play, Wesselbend's Everardo Huguet made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alf Tempel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 47thth minute of the game Ken Anthonis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
An unexpectedly hard shot by Everardo Huguet in the 52nd minute of play forced Rapid Wien's goalkeeper Alf Tempel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Rapid Wien from getting a goal against them. Robin Dommröse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Jurgen Goris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Rapid Wien's Alf Tempel got control of the ball when Grégoire Caamaño tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wesselbend's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rapid Wien the free kick. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 83rd minute, but Alf Tempel got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Rapid Wien hanging dry this time. The supporters of Wesselbend booed when Rapid Wien was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Werner Frach didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wesselbend's Jurgen Goris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin Dommröse in the 94th minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
