With a little luck, Slovakia's Henrich Slany got control of the ball when Rune Nilsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, Slovakia's Metod Mlynar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Oliver Holub received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Bo-Erik Boklund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Nils Liedholm IF's zone, Oliver Holub stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bo-Erik Boklund came out of the goal and Oliver Holub tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 64thth minute of the game Ove Hake who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Slovakia's Henrich Slany was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 67th minute, Metod Mlynar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henrich Slany showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ove Hake, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Metod Mlynar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oliver Holub was extremely unlucky when he, in the 80th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 92nd minute, Ove Hake left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nils Liedholm IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Slovakia had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
