The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 16 minutes into the match, Velester Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Benigno Urruchua came free, but Ferdinando Scarinci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Velester Football Club's Dumitru Velicu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kjell Sandström. That made the score 1-0 after 17 minutes of play. If Pietro Romeo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dumitru Velicu got free with Kjell Sandström in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute of the match Velester Football Club got a corner. Trojanskahästen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emanuel Gliga ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Emanuel Gliga almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Trojanskahästen's Kjell Sandström did a great save. Ferdinando Scarinci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benigno Urruchua in the 36th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dumitru Velicu got free with Kjell Sandström in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Trojanskahästen's Kjell Sandström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dumitru Velicu in the 47th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dumitru Velicu in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kjell Sandström saved Trojanskahästen from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benigno Urruchua to strike the kick off in the second half. Kjell Sandström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dumitru Velicu in the 54th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Trojanskahästen defense, Dumitru Velicu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kjell Sandström. The Trojanskahästen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kjell Sandström should have stopped the shot. Trojanskahästen's Karl-Johan Finman was substituted for Cornel Iorgu. Velester Football Club's Antonio Gulli was substituted for Betão Camargo. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dennis Rullo in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kjell Sandström saved Trojanskahästen from getting behind. In the 66thth minute of the game Dennis Rullo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Trojanskahästen's Kjell Sandström was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 67th minute, Karl-Johan Finman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 70 minutes of play, Velester Football Club's Dumitru Velicu made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kjell Sandström was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Trojanskahästen's zone, Dennis Rullo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kjell Sandström came out of the goal and Dennis Rullo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 77 minutes of play, Velester Football Club's Dumitru Velicu made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kjell Sandström was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 81st minute, Benigno Urruchua got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benigno Urruchua's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferdinando Scarinci read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Roger Josefsson made a great header on Trojanskahästen's corner, it was just that Velester Football Club's Ferdinando Scarinci managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Velester Football Club's goalkeeper Ferdinando Scarinci, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Velester Football Club's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
