Club Atletico Los Andes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kim Lekberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Fulgencio Eguerdi in the 43 minute of the game. In the 44th minute, Caetano Moreira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tipi Calderon was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Rodolfo Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

Portugal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kaj Skager was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 86th minute, Orlando Inautzi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Club Atletico Los Andes's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
