In the 16th minute Samuele Kunz suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 16 minutes into the game, Lars Gunnarsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Karlsborg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Switzerland the free kick. Switzerland's Raik Spengler was substituted for Samuele Kunz. In the 18th match minute, Karlsborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Gunnarsson to maneuver through the defense. Björn Blomkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raik Spengler, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 23rd minute Raik Spengler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Björn Blomkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With 25 minutes on the clock, Levi von Herren commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 25th minute, one of Switzerland:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Switzerland. Joel Classon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Hias Nüssli made a huge save. Joel Classon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Hias Nüssli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Classon to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Classon came free, but Hias Nüssli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Timo Siegmund fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Switzerland's protests and gave Timo Siegmund a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute, Timo Siegmund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute, Anton Stenman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Karlsborg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Rodrigo von Känel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd match minute, Switzerland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fridolin Neumeister to maneuver through the defense. After 82nd play minutes Joel Classon shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Hias Nüssli and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 87th minute, Joel Classon made a precise shot to the right of Hias Nüssli. Switzerland's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Stenman in the 93rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Anton Stenman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Karlsborg's supporters rose to their feet, but Anton Stenman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hias Nüssli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Karlsborg players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
