Keld Paulsen made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Carlos Veiga sent off a good shot on target. Nildo Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertram Svenningsen in the 17th minute of play. Nilton Sanches hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Chris Nygaard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nildo Lara was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertram Svenningsen in the 40th minute of play forced America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Nildo Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd match minute, Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bjarne Kirkegaard to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the match, Chris Nygaard had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nildo Lara. America Futebol Clube SP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Chris Nygaard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Denmark were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chris Nygaard made a kick off. Nildo Lara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chris Nygaard in the 53rd minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Bertram Svenningsen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute of the game Hélder Almeida made a throw-in which Pedrinho Figueiredo played forward. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicolas Souza in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Keld Paulsen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 79 minutes into the game, Nicolas Souza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Keld Paulsen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 90 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Nildo Lara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chris Nygaard. Chris Nygaard in the 92ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nildo Lara, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The America Futebol Clube SP fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Denmark were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
