Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Olaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 21st minute Costica Vladimiri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cosmin Barbulescu made in the 28th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eugen Nita. Club Ibiza's Rene Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rasvan Cristescu in the 31st minute of play. In the 35th minute Rasvan Cristescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carol Stinga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Fonso in the 40th minute of play. Romania's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bruno Fonso 41 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Rene Higuita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Costica Vladimiri went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The Club Ibiza players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Romania were winning 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adam Olaru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Adam Olaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 89 minutes in the game, Octavian Vaduva dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Rene Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavian Vaduva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavian Vaduva in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rene Higuita saved Club Ibiza from getting behind. In the last second Rene Higuita throw himself and got hold of the ball when Octavian Vaduva in the 91stth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Rene Higuita was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Anton Stinga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Anton Stinga really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Romania's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
