The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Aldas Galkus came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FK Mintis Vilnius's Oliver Can played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graciano Coutinho in the 14th minute of play. Oliver Can showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 15th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, FK Mintis Vilnius's Aldas Galkus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Tomas Danilevičius tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 22 minutes, Wilson Amorim successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Oliver Can took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Pimentel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Tomas Danilevičius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hubertas Dabkevičius in the 30th minute of play. When Aldas Galkus came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the FK Mintis Vilnius fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aldas Galkus couldn't finish the play. Wilson Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Danilevičius in the 33rd minute. Felipe Barreto kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Danilevičius got free with Wilson Amorim in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of FK Mintis Vilnius booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Danilevičius recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Danilevičius to make the kick off. In the 56th minute Grant Pustak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oliver Can took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felipinho Amorim during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 77 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Felipinho Amorim. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portugal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Aldas Galkus was slow to take the kick. During this time FK Mintis Vilnius's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Grant Pustak heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Oliver Can showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolomeu Dias in the 83rd minute of the match.
