The supporters of Memphis Grizzlies booed when OLIMPIA SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdomiro Barbosa acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 10th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Freddy Tindale. In the 11thth minute of the game Hayden Starr who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but OLIMPIA SP's Valdomiro Barbosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Osvaldo Prestes kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. In the 19th minute Ismael Fontes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gez Winship saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of OLIMPIA SP booed when Memphis Grizzlies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harvey McLiam Wilson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdomiro Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hayden Starr, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Freddy Tindale kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Valdomiro Barbosa. That made the score 1-0 in the 34 minute of play. A collision led to Memphis Grizzlies getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Ron Mansfield hit a great ball.

OLIMPIA SP's Alexandre Amaral was substituted for Osvaldo Prestes. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Freddy Tindale to strike the kick off in the second half. Hayden Starr struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Valdomiro Barbosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Memphis Grizzlies. Freddy Tindale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Barbosa having to interfere. 67 minutes into the game, Lúcio Reis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Gez Winship was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. OLIMPIA SP's Valdomiro Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hayden Starr in the 76th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hayden Starr in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valdomiro Barbosa saved OLIMPIA SP from getting behind. After 89 played minutes Memphis Grizzlies got a freekick which was hit by Phillip Byfield. After 93 played minutes OLIMPIA SP got a freekick which was hit by Erik Gaúcho. Freddy Tindale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Both players had fought hard during the second half to keep the score at 1-1. The tie meant more entertainment for the crowd as the match moved into extra-time.

After resting during the break, the players from both teams went out on the field looking very concentrated. It was now first half of the overtime. Lúcio Reis made the kick off and play began. Dave Fleming's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Valdomiro Barbosa firmly grabbed it by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre Amaral during the 111th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, OLIMPIA SP's Alexandre Amaral got a free kick in the 111th minute. Gez Winship made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Fontes in the 116th minute of play. The Memphis Grizzlies players wondered just what they needed to do win this one. 105 minutes had now been played and the teams were still tied. Penalties were starting to look likely.

The players looked a little tired but resolute before the second half of the overtime, where Freddy Tindale took the kick off. Valdomiro Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Tindale, who was totally free with the ball in the 121st minute. A collision led to OLIMPIA SP getting a freekick after 129 minutes play. Erik Gaúcho hit a great ball. Memphis Grizzlies's Freddy Tindale got his second yellow card of the match in the 133rd minute. The referee ordered Freddy Tindale off the ground. In the 134th minute, Freddy Tindale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Defensive play by both the teams in the second half of extra-time meant the match finished 1-1. The game would now be decided on penalties.

In the 137th minute there was a penalty for OLIMPIA SP. Erik Gaúcho stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gez Winship. 1-2. Valdomiro Barbosa had in the 138thth minute some difficulties stopping Gez Winship's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The referee gave OLIMPIA SP a penalty, 139 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Valdomiro Barbosa, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Memphis Grizzlies's Gez Winship. 2-3. When the match had been going on for 141 minutes, Memphis Grizzlies's Ian Webb got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Valdomiro Barbosa. The referee gave OLIMPIA SP a penalty, 146 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Wilson de Moraes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Memphis Grizzlies's Gez Winship. 4-5. When the match had been going on for 147 minutes, Memphis Grizzlies's Ken Blackwater got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Valdomiro Barbosa. Valdomiro Barbosa had in the 149thth minute some difficulties stopping Celsinho Batista's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The goalkeeper, Valdomiro Barbosa, was totally fooled by Memphis Grizzlies's Dave Fleming, who 150 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the OLIMPIA SP players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Memphis Grizzlies.
