GuateFortín's Cesar Sanchez was substituted for Douglas Ayala. Alfredo Hinguanzo hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elói Mattos in the 11th minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Miguel Marin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. GuateFortín's Miguel Marin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Couto in the 20th minute of play. Félix Moreno succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 22nd playminute. In the 25th minute Erasmo Santana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's goal looked a bit too open when Félix Moreno came free, but Dida Frangopoulos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as GuateFortín's Félix Moreno slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dida Frangopoulos. That made the score 2-0 after 29 minutes of play. Miguel Marin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 35th minute Diego Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Marin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 minutes of play, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Diego Couto made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Miguel Marin was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dida Frangopoulos was a little too slow when Félix Moreno got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 3-1. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Orlando Morales got a free kick in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cesar Sanchez made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Erasmo Santana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Miguel Marin. GuateFortín's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo Santana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. 56 minutes into the match, Conrado Rocha notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of GuateFortín's Miguel Marin. Miguel Marin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Diego Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorge Bonilla during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th minute Cesar Sanchez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Frangopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA defense, Félix Moreno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dida Frangopoulos. The INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dida Frangopoulos should have stopped the shot. Alberto Santamaria kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Dennys Erazo got a free kick in the 95th minute. The referee's whistle sounded for the end of the second half. The match was tied at 4-4. None of the players looked happy at the prospect of extra-time.

After the break the players went out on the field to play the first half of overtime with revived energy in their legs. GuateFortín's Miguel Marin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 121st minute of the match, managed to save GuateFortín from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, GuateFortín's Miguel Marin got control of the ball when Erasmo Santana tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 129th minute Cesar Sanchez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Frangopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was 8-8, 145 minutes into the match. In the 148th minute there was a penalty for INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA. Ricardo Torres stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Miguel Marin. 8-9. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA played a much better game than GuateFortín and deserved their victory. The GuateFortín players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
