Celsinho Paiva hit a great ball. The supporters of Jataiense Futebol Clube booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thanos Nestorakos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the game, Jataiense Futebol Clube's Edu Velloso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fondas Koufaliotis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After the first half Jataiense Futebol Clube were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sheriff's Fondas Koufaliotis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráuzio Freire in the 62nd minute of play. Edu Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Fondas Koufaliotis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 66 minutes, Fondas Koufaliotis successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 69th minute, Stefanos Vrettos made a precise shot to the right of Raimundo Ortiz. Jataiense Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 72 played minutes Sheriff got a freekick which was hit by Alkis Bletsas. Jataiense Futebol Clube made a substitution. Genílson Munhoz replaced Giuseppe Siqueira. The supporters of Jataiense Futebol Clube booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alkis Bletsas didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Sheriff's Fondas Koufaliotis got control of the ball when Edu Velloso tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raimundo Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alkis Bletsas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Rony Alvarenga took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Fondas Koufaliotis to make any attempt to save it. Fondas Koufaliotis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rony Alvarenga in the 99th minute of play.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Jataiense Futebol Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
