Witalis Zecman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Donato Viana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zbigniew Jenkot during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th minute Sidónio Quinaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Radowit Bielenda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Ivaylo Yordanov dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Neither team could find the winning goal during normal time. The second half finished 2-2. Extra-time would have to be played.

After resting during the break, the players from both teams went out on the field looking very concentrated. It was now first half of the overtime. Ivaylo Yordanov made the kick off and play began. In the 106th match minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Carmo to maneuver through the defense. Donato Viana was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Witalis Zecman showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 106 minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Wy-pas fully deserved thier win.
