Marshrose's Hélio Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Townsley in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, Carlisle United's Steven Garner-Currie seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Steven Garner-Currie the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Carlisle United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Steven Garner-Currie had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 5th minute, one of Carlisle United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Carlisle United. The referee gave Marshrose a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Derrick Osborne, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Carlisle United's Tod Bridgeworth. 1-0. 9 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's Trey Hughes-Guy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélio Arósio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 10th minute, Ruben Le hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Derrick Osborne came free, but Tod Bridgeworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Marshrose defense, Harri Kaine kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélio Arósio. The Marshrose fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélio Arósio should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Carlisle United booed when Marshrose was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norbert Garland didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Thomas-Jan Thomas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carlisle United's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas-Jan Thomas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hélio Arósio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute, Derrick Osborne made a precise shot to the right of Tod Bridgeworth. Carlisle United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 29th minute, Ruben Le hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Lawrence Hopson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thomas-Jan Thomas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélio Arósio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lawrence Hopson in the 39th minute of play forced Carlisle United's goalkeeper Tod Bridgeworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Marshrose's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas-Jan Thomas came free, but Hélio Arósio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Carlisle United's Jan Thomas got a free kick in the 45th minute. Hélio Arósio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Marriott in the 47th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Harri Kaine's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hélio Arósio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. The supporters of Marshrose booed when Carlisle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niccolo Otamendi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Derrick Osborne struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Tod Bridgeworth didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marshrose. With his leg Hélio Arósio managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Carlisle United's Thomas-Jan Thomas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 70 played minutes Carlisle United got a freekick which was hit by Trey Hughes-Guy. Shane Tetley kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Marshrose's Derrick Osborne tried to score from far away in the 72nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Marshrose's zone, Jake Marriott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hélio Arósio came out of the goal and Jake Marriott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Marshrose's Hélio Arósio got control of the ball when Jake Marriott tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tod Bridgeworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lawrence Hopson in the 83rd minute of the match.
