In the 15th minute Lu Xing Song shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lu Xing Song in the 17th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Umberto Cunha having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Umberto Cunha successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
