The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugeniusz Rykaczewski got free with Maxime Durand in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute Eugeniusz Rykaczewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maxime Durand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maxime Durand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugeniusz Rykaczewski in the 13th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roberto Lewandowski. After 18 played minutes France got a freekick which was hit by Alexis Bruneau. When Sylwester Klimkiewicz came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the SMOCZANKA MIELEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sylwester Klimkiewicz couldn't finish the play.
