Deivid de Amaral's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Deivid de Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. After 11 played minutes Magnistar got a freekick which was hit by Deivid de Amaral. 17 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Magnistar's Aírton Penha. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wim Wilmes got free with Aírton Penha in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Magnistar's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 91st minute, Wim Wilmes had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. 91 minutes into the game, Baltazar de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Magnistar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Netherlands the free kick. Netherlands's Sijmen Clous was substituted for Wim Wilmes. Baltazar de Lara hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cauã Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Netherlands walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
