Eneto Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxime Durand having to interfere. 7 minutes in the game, Octavian Hârtopanu fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Maxime Durand having to interfere. A collision led to U 1974 getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Eric Caraiman hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, U 1974's Maxime Durand threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Octavian Hârtopanu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Maxime Durand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavian Hârtopanu in the 18th minute of the match. After 20 played minutes France got a freekick which was hit by Camille Baume. The supporters of U 1974 booed when France was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean Bombelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute, Jean Bombelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Balint hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Maxime Durand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octavian Hârtopanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute of the match U 1974 got a corner. France's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Manuel Balint ran over to the corner to take the kick. U 1974's Dumitru Oardă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Peletier in the 38th minute of play. A collision led to France getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Alexis Bruneau hit a great ball. Eneto Vidal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Maxime Durand made a huge save. Dumitru Oardă didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frank Peletier went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eneto Vidal to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Frank Peletier could shoot a difficult shot in the 53rd minute, which Dumitru Oardă however easily saved by the left post. France's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by David Barbier in the 54th minute. 57 minutes into the match, U 1974's goalkeeper Dumitru Oardă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Peletier. After some careless play in the France defense, Octavian Hârtopanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Maxime Durand. The France fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Maxime Durand should have stopped the shot. Dumitru Oardă came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by France's Frank Peletier. But to his dismay, Frank Peletier quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eneto Vidal in the 73rd minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U 1974's Dumitru Oardă proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save U 1974 from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Frank Peletier took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Dumitru Oardă to make any attempt to save it. With his leg Dumitru Oardă managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when France's Frank Peletier fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Frank Peletier got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Maxime Durand stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eneto Vidal's shot from short distance in the 96th minute.
