With a left leg Mauro Catarinense saved Inter Porteño from getting behind. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Oskitz in the 14th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 17 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by David Eikelkamp. In the 18th minute Dimo Zagorchin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bruno Oskitz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnout Reekers having to make a save. If Mithat Mesut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Oskitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mauro Catarinense having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Oskitz came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mauro Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mithat Mesut could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bruno Oskitz to make the kick off. Inter Porteño's Mauro Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Inter Porteño from getting a goal against them. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Inter Porteño's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. After 60 minutes Inter Porteño's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in David Eikelkamp almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Inter Porteño's Mauro Catarinense did a great save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute Mithat Mesut shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Inter Porteño getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Daryl Dixon hit a great ball. In the 87th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mithat Mesut in the 90th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inter Porteño's Hélder Gomes got a free kick in the 94th minute. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Inter Porteño was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Montez Freire didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mauro Catarinense acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 98th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer. Netherlands played a much better game than Inter Porteño and deserved their victory. The Inter Porteño players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
