The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After some careless play in the Los Hijos de Doña Beija defense, Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Higinio Aguilera. The Los Hijos de Doña Beija fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Higinio Aguilera should have stopped the shot. Higinio Aguilera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 25th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Aguilera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 28th minute after Los Hijos de Doña Beija's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The corner ended in Gijsbert ter Kruimer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Higinio Aguilera did a great save. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Feliciano Haritzeder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 37 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Wim Wilmes. Higinio Aguilera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jyrki Sillanpää. David Eikelkamp kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. If Feliciano Haritzeder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Indiana Jones made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Higinio Aguilera. Los Hijos de Doña Beija's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaaf Groeneveldt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 59th minute of play forced Los Hijos de Doña Beija's goalkeeper Higinio Aguilera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Luís Fábio Rocha was substituted for Alcides Baros. Through an outstanding action, after 75 minutes, Higinio Aguilera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliciano Haritzeder in the 76th minute of play. Los Hijos de Doña Beija were awarded a corner in the 78th minute after Netherlands's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Osman Ali Okutan took the corner. The corner led Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Feliciano Haritzeder to a score. 1-4 in the 78th minute. Higinio Aguilera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 80th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Higinio Aguilera came out and tried to block the shot, but Gustaaf Groeneveldt slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 82nd minute. Higinio Aguilera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 88th minute of the match. Higinio Aguilera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 93rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Luís Fábio Rocha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
