Chris Nygaard missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 15 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Rogério Soberano right hand side. Ernani Vargas's late challenge caught a Denmark's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernani Vargas helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Denmark booed when 27 de Mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Oswaldo Gaúcho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hélder Severo hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. The throw-in from Bebeto Branco in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Denmark's Kenn Skou. After 37 played minutes 27 de Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Dudin Suartama. In the 44th minute, Virgílio Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, 27 de Mayo's goal looked a bit too open when Mikkel Wulff came free, but Rogério Soberano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Germán Cano put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Keld Paulsen. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chris Nygaard stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rogério Soberano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bertram Svenningsen in the 53rd minute. The supporters of Denmark booed when 27 de Mayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmílson Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chris Nygaard's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rogério Soberano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Denmark's Keld Paulsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Germán Cano in the 63rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Denmark's Mathias Ludvigsen got a free kick in the 68th minute. In the 70th minute Bebeto Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keld Paulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 73 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Claudinei Tasso sped through Denmark's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Keld Paulsen. Germán Cano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Keld Paulsen having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germán Cano in the 76th minute of play forced Denmark's goalkeeper Keld Paulsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 79 minutes of play, 27 de Mayo's Claudinei Tasso made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Keld Paulsen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Rogério Soberano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ernani Vargas kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Keld Paulsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germán Cano in the 90th minute of the match. The throw-in from Hélder Severo in the 95th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Denmark's Bertram Svenningsen. After having played for 96 minutes, Bertram Svenningsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Denmark's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertram Svenningsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
