In the last second Maxime Durand throw himself and got hold of the ball when Ermegildo Heriberto in the 26thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 29 minutes into the match, Ermegildo Heriberto notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of France's Maxime Durand. Maxime Durand was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Venancio Oto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Peletier in the 34th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ermegildo Heriberto in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maxime Durand saved France from getting behind. In the 42nd minute, Inocencio Frichoso reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Maxime Durand. The goal made the score 3-0. After 46 minutes, Remy Dupuy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the France and the Punta Alvear players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Ermegildo Heriberto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Punta Alvear's supporters rose to their feet, but Ermegildo Heriberto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maxime Durand breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The audience was convinced that Inocencio Frichoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maxime Durand was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Punta Alvear made a substitution. Edelmiro Veremundo replaced Emanuel Gizon. Eulalio Errolan made in the 57th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Inocencio Frichoso. 60 minutes into the match, Punta Alvear's goalkeeper Venancio Oto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Peletier. After some careless play in the France defense, Ermegildo Heriberto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Maxime Durand. The France fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Maxime Durand should have stopped the shot. Maxime Durand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto Eleazar in the 68th minute of play. France's Maxime Durand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inocencio Frichoso in the 73rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Heriberto in the 75th minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 78th minute, Remy Dupuy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 79 minutes, Ermegildo Heriberto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Punta Alvear's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ermegildo Heriberto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacinto Eleazar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxime Durand having to interfere. The supporters of Punta Alvear booed when France was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean Bombelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Frank Peletier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, France's Jean Bombelles got a free kick in the 90th minute. After 91 played minutes, Punta Alvear's Edelmiro Veremundo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Maxime Durand came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Punta Alvear reached it. After 91 played minutes Punta Alvear got a freekick which was hit by Edelmiro Veremundo. After 93 played minutes France got a freekick which was hit by Alexis Bruneau. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Punta Alvear fans cheered their team off the field, for while France had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
