In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 7 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Major Barna came free, but Manfred Fribäck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 12 played minutes Norrlands Athen got a freekick which was hit by Larry Tatum. Major Barna might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manfred Fribäck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Major Barna ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 13th minute Major Barna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfred Fribäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's Erik Ljusberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fodor Daniel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfred Fribäck having to interfere. Fodor Daniel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Ljusberg in the 30th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Erik Ljusberg made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the game Bakos Endre made a throw-in which Takacs Tibor played forward. Nicolás Castillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Fodor Daniel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolás Castillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norrlands Athen's Tord Lundin was substituted for Qian Zhen Sheng. After 66 played minutes Norrlands Athen got a freekick which was hit by Larry Tatum. Gilbert Hermansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Antal Valentin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vörös Henrik's late challenge caught a Norrlands Athen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vörös Henrik helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Hungary's Vörös Henrik got a free kick in the 89th minute. Norrlands Athen's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filcho Slivkov in the 92nd minute. The corner ended in Filcho Slivkov almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hungary's Fodor Daniel did a great save. After 93 played minutes Norrlands Athen got a freekick which was hit by Martin Lundin. Norrlands Athen's Manfred Fribäck proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Norrlands Athen from getting a goal against them. The Norrlands Athen players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
