Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. Guararapes's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ragıp Işık in the 15th minute. The corner led Guararapes's Ragıp Işık to fire away a dangerous shot which Wilson Amorim despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 22nd minute José Pedro Cardozo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Daniel Pimentel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vinicio Bermudo in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Amorim saved Portugal from getting behind. Romeu Guedes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 27th minute of the match. Felipe Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Guedes having to interfere. Vinicio Bermudo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. After 40 minutes of play, Portugal's Felipe Barreto made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Romeu Guedes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Romeu Guedes having to make a save. If Felipe Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 45 minutes into the match, Guararapes's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Barreto came free, but Romeu Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Felipe Barreto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vinicio Bermudo made a kick off. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Bermudo in the 53rd minute of the match. Guararapes's Romeu Guedes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 56th minute of play. Romeu Guedes made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Viriato Moura sent off a good shot on target. José Pedro Cardozo scored 2-3 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinicio Bermudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. A collision led to Guararapes getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Ragıp Işık hit a great ball. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. Portugal made a substitution. Romeu Guedes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bartolomeu Dias's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute of the match Daniel Pimentel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Romeu Guedes skillfully saved the ball. In the 80th minute, Bruno Bastos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes into the game, Tenorio Urrue was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guararapes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portugal the free kick. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. When the final whistle went the supporters of Portugal were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Guararapes side.
