It was a penalty for Guararapes! An unexpectedly hard shot by Dida Pena in the 38th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 43rd minute of play forced Guararapes's goalkeeper Romeu Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zaccheo Andolina to make the kick off. Zaccheo Andolina took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Romeu Guedes. Romeu Guedes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guararapes's goalkeeper Romeu Guedes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. Italy's Eliseo Cutri managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Claudio Graziano in the 82 minute of the game. Claudio Graziano made in the 83rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Italy's Eliseo Cutri.
