Wilson Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Izydor Karbowski got free with Wilson Amorim in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute, Evandro Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Graciano Coutinho. 48 minutes in the game Abelardo Arotza got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Franco Benvenuto was the one to do the kick off. Viriato Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Elpidio Amor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Evandro Ortiz came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Evandro Ortiz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Amorim. The Portugal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wilson Amorim should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Portugal booed when Timo! was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Telmo Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elpidio Amor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bartolomeu Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evandro Ortiz in the 81st minute of the match. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Gelacio in the 88th minute of play. Timo! were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
