After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot. Belgium's supporters rose to their feet, but Edward Vanderstraeten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artur Boruc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nerio Etxeberria might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Casper Claes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nerio Etxeberria ran back to his position shaking his head. Tormaigh Cassin scored 1-0 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Casper Claes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edward Vanderstraeten scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Boruc, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Policarpio Lama. With a little luck, Belgium's Casper Claes got control of the ball when Policarpio Lama tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31st minute of the match Rayo Bengala got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Teodosio Lorenzo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Rayo Bengala's Teodosio Lorenzo to fire away a dangerous shot which Casper Claes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Edward Vanderstraeten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Artur Boruc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Policarpio Lama. A nice corner shot did that Teodosio Lorenzo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Casper Claes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julen Castellano in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edward Vanderstraeten was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Rayo Bengala's Artur Boruc got control of the ball when Edward Vanderstraeten tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rayo Bengala's Artur Boruc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Rayo Bengala from getting a goal against them. In the 59th minute Belgium were awarded a corner. Edward Vanderstraeten went to the cornerflag to take it. Artur Boruc made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tormaigh Cassin in the 67th minute of play. Rayo Bengala's Artur Boruc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 70th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Artur Boruc was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Rayo Bengala's Macabeo Sampil was substituted for Tormaigh Cassin. Edward Vanderstraeten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Artur Boruc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Yves Dervaux might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Artur Boruc. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yves Dervaux ran back to his position shaking his head. Artur Boruc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yves Dervaux in the 95th minute of the match. The Belgium supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
