After 16 played minutes Mikrochórion got a freekick which was hit by Akis Kyriakakos. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. In the 24th minute, Kleon Pantelakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paris Chatzinikolaou took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mikrochórion's Paris Chatzinikolaou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 37th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Mikrochórion's Paris Chatzinikolaou. Paris Chatzinikolaou was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Akis Kyriakakos was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 44 minutes had been played. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Mikrochórion's Paris Chatzinikolaou got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paris Chatzinikolaou showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Meesters in the 53rd minute of the match. Mikrochórion's Paris Chatzinikolaou proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Mikrochórion from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Paris Chatzinikolaou in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
