If Humberto Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cafu Meirelles hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute of the match Luís Gustavo Teles sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hermínio Barros skillfully saved the ball. Joãozinho Pernambucano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Barros having to interfere. Humberto Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Hermínio Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Joãozinho Pernambucano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hermínio Barros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josué Eger to make the kick off. Noia's Hermínio Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franklin Loureiro in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st minute Franklin Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Barros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
