When Santiago Flores came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Elite Azulgrana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santiago Flores couldn't finish the play. In the 10th minute, Bruno Sidoro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albano Bemabe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Flores, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramon Lizardi hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. La Scaloneta were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Elite Azulgrana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ángel-Fabián Di María took the corner. Damaso Belarmo hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Damaso Belarmo's late challenge caught a Elite Azulgrana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Damaso Belarmo helped the player get up and apologised. Damaso Belarmo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. The La Scaloneta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albano Bemabe should have stopped the shot. Albano Bemabe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Flores in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Santiago Flores ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Albano Bemabe was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lionel Messi got free with Gaston Gomez in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Elite Azulgrana were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Santiago Flores could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Albano Bemabe made a huge save. In the 55th minute Isidro Lángara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albano Bemabe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ramon Lizardi took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gaston Gomez. Gaston Gomez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. La Scaloneta made a substitution. Eusebio Richie replaced Valentin Taurino. La Scaloneta's Apolo Aurken was substituted for Lion Messi. Albano Bemabe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santiago Flores in the 69th minute of the match. With a little luck, La Scaloneta's Albano Bemabe got control of the ball when Isidro Lángara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albano Bemabe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isidro Lángara's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Elite Azulgrana were furious when José Fossa was red carded, 77 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Isidro Lángara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Albano Bemabe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lionel Messi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Ángel-Fabián Di María shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaston Gomez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaston Gomez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ángel-Fabián Di María, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ángel-Fabián Di María fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaston Gomez having to interfere. The Elite Azulgrana supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Elite Azulgrana would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
