In the 16th minute Lucrețiu Nicodim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moise Vlădean in the 18th minute of the match. The supporters of DINAMO booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Dreifuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chris Mergenthaler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Ysmael Marfil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tommy Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adrian Ciolacu's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute of the match DINAMO got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dorin Agârbiceanu ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Narciso Abar heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Sachs in the 37th minute of play forced DINAMO's goalkeeper Ysmael Marfil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basarab Zburliş in the 38th minute of play. After a rather tough play, DINAMO's Maxim Fința got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ysmael Marfil made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Frank Sachs sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Germany booed when DINAMO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augustin Văduvescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. DINAMO's supporters rose to their feet, but Moise Vlădean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 77 minutes into the game, Basarab Zburliş was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DINAMO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Germany the free kick. A collision led to DINAMO getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Moise Vlădean hit a great ball. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucrețiu Nicodim, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ysmael Marfil having to interfere. DINAMO's Ysmael Marfil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 92nd minute of play. The Germany supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Germany would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
