Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Politehnica Iasi's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Luca Velicu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal and Luca Velicu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho Queiroz in the 30th minute of play. Emilian Feteanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 32nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 33rd minute of play forced Politehnica Iasi's goalkeeper Emilian Feteanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emilian Feteanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 35th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Politehnica Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Emilian Feteanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Feteanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute of the match David Cărtărescu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilian Feteanu having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorginho Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer from long distance, 51 minutes into the match, got Emilian Feteanu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 54th minute of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emilian Feteanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran back to his position shaking his head. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Emilian Feteanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 62nd minute. With a little luck, Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Politehnica Iasi from getting a goal against them. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by Politehnica Iasi's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was slow to take the kick. During this time Netherlands's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of Politehnica Iasi booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Meesters didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Emilian Feteanu came out and tried to block the shot, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 78th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Emilian Feteanu, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 83rd minute of play forced Politehnica Iasi's goalkeeper Emilian Feteanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Queiroz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 86 played minutes Politehnica Iasi got a freekick which was hit by Marek Lamczyk. The long shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 87th minute really tested Emilian Feteanu's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 88 minutes Politehnica Iasi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gijsbert ter Kruimer who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Politehnica Iasi's Anton Munteanu got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Politehnica Iasi's Emilian Feteanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Politehnica Iasi from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Politehnica Iasi.
