The supporters of Vercelli FC booed when Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Schneider didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute Tommi Lundell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Auer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommi Lundell in the 47th minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Fabio Auer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

It was beautiful to see Vercelli FC's Enzo Azzolina in action when he in the 87th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommi Lundell in the 95th minute of play forced Austria's goalkeeper Fabio Auer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Vercelli FC were awarded a corner. Enzo Azzolina went to the cornerflag to take it. Vercelli FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
