Rovine Craiova's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marcin Pachucki ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dumitru Purcărete in the 9th minute of play forced Rovine Craiova's goalkeeper Victor Negara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the game, A4p FC Gad's James Batistuta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
