After 7 minutes Celta de Virgos's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adam Olaru who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Benny Niva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carol Stinga was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Zacarias Ascencio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Costica Vladimiri's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Benny Niva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carol Stinga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Benny Nivas short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Carol Stinga to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Zacarias Ascencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Olaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes had been played when some careless play by Celta de Virgos's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adam Olaru was slow to take the kick. During this time Romania's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costica Vladimiri in the 22nd minute of play forced Celta de Virgos's goalkeeper Zacarias Ascencio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zacarias Ascencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costica Vladimiri in the 26th minute of the match. Zacarias Ascencio came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Romania's Costica Vladimiri. Romania's Costica Vladimiri got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexis Sanchez during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alexis Sanchez hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Zacarias Ascencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasvan Cristescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 39 minutes of play, Romania's Costica Vladimiri made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zacarias Ascencio was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Costica Vladimiri in the 42nd minute of play forced Celta de Virgos's goalkeeper Zacarias Ascencio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benny Niva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Celta de Virgos getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Zacarias Ascencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anton Stinga, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Celta de Virgos's Zacarias Ascencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandru Pangratiu in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Romania's Anton Stinga ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zacarias Ascencio. Zacarias Ascencio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. 91 minutes into the match, Celta de Virgos's goal looked a bit too open when Anton Stinga came free, but Zacarias Ascencio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Celta de Virgos's goalkeeper Zacarias Ascencio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anton Stinga. When the match was over Romania could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Celta de Virgos throughout the match.
