Raul Caetano hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Zé Paulo da Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Zé Paulo da Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 9th minute of the match. If Gunter Waller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 12th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Paulo da Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Wilson Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Paulo da Silva. In the 19th minute, Wilhelm Nienhaus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Gigel Elenescu scored to the left of an out of position Wilson Amorim, making the score, 2-0. Felipe Barreto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rune Jarstein having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Barreto in the 28th minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Rune Jarstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 31st minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 33rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Viriato Moura in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rune Jarstein saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caetano Moreira in the 37th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rune Jarstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 played minutes Hertha 1969 got a freekick which was hit by Stefan Mayer. In the 46th minute, Felipe Barreto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilhelm Nienhaus made a kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match, Felipe Barreto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rune Jarstein was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Stefan Mayer hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hertha 1969's zone, Felipe Barreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal and Felipe Barreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Portugal's Felipe Barreto was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rune Jarstein in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabricio Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Rune Jarstein was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Felipe Barreto showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 69 minute of play. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Hertha 1969's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Zé Paulo da Silva in the 78th minute. Gigel Elenescu was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Hertha 1969 from getting a goal against them. 85 minutes into the game, Ziemowit Tscherner threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Bruno Bastos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 86th minute, Portugal's Caetano Moreira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rune Jarstein. Rune Jarstein yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. In the 89th minute, Bruno Bastos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nils Hovermann took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3.
