After 69 minutes of play, Portugal's Felipe Barreto made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Daniel Pimentel was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. When Faustino Almeida got the opportunity to take care of a free kick it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Portugal. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gao Peng Ran, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. If Caetano Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
